Network
Holosuite Media
Production umbrella for Star Trek and genre-focused podcasting based on science fiction and fantasy TV, film, books and games.
Overview
Holosuite Media is an independent podcast network dedicated to science fiction, fantasy, gaming, television, film and popular culture. Built around a community of passionate creators and fans, the network provides a platform for discussion, reviews, interviews, analysis and shared fandom experiences.
Named after the holosuites featured in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the network was created to provide a welcoming home for fan-created content and collaborative podcasting.
The Network
Since its origins in 2009, Holosuite Media has hosted a wide variety of podcasts and community projects covering subjects including:
- Star Trek
- Science fiction television and film
- Gaming and online communities
- Fantasy franchises
- Books and literature
- Community discussions and interviews
The network has always operated as a volunteer-driven project, bringing together hosts, editors, producers and fans who share a passion for creating and discussing the entertainment they enjoy.
Growth and Evolution
Like many fan-driven projects, Holosuite Media has evolved significantly over the years. Shows have launched, concluded, returned and transformed as hosts’ interests and circumstances changed.
A major period of growth occurred during 2020 when several Star Trek podcasters joined the network following the closure of another podcasting initiative. During this period, Holosuite Media expanded rapidly and became home to a growing collection of creators covering multiple areas of Star Trek and wider science fiction fandom.
As normal work and social routines gradually returned following the COVID-19 pandemic, the pace of content production naturally slowed. While the network remains active today, its focus has shifted towards supporting existing shows, maintaining community connections and providing a platform for creators to continue sharing their passions.
My Role in Holosuite Media
My involvement with Holosuite Media began in 2014 when I joined the network as host of Tribbles in Ecstasy.
Over time, my role expanded beyond podcasting into website administration, infrastructure management, technical support and community coordination. During the network’s expansion in 2020, I supported hosts and production teams by maintaining systems, resolving technical issues, and helping the network scale its operations.
While this often meant stepping back from my own podcasting projects, it provided good use of my valuable experience in website development, online communities, content production and digital infrastructure.
Legacy and Community
One of the reasons Holosuite Media remains important to me is the community it created. The network has connected creators and fans from around the world, providing opportunities for collaboration, friendship and shared enthusiasm across multiple fandoms.
Friendships formed through the network have endured beyond the podcasting projects themselves, and many of the connections made continue to influence my work and creative collaborations today.
Although the network has changed over the years, its core philosophy remains the same: fan communities thrive when people are given opportunities to create, collaborate, and share the things they love.
